Electrostatic Powder Gun Operating Principle & Solution
The electrostatic powder gun is the core spraying tool in powder coating. It works on the electrostatic adsorption principle: a built-in high-voltage generator (60-100kV) creates a strong electric field at the gun tip electrode. Powder is fed from the supply hopper through tubes into the gun, propelled by compressed air. As powder particles pass through the high-voltage field, they acquire negative charge (corona discharge principle). Negatively charged particles fly toward the grounded workpiece (positive pole) under combined electrostatic and airflow forces, firmly adhering to the surface to form a uniform powder layer. EMT guns deliver even powder output with ≥65% first-pass transfer efficiency, with adjustable voltage, current, powder output and atomization pressure for different workpieces and coatings.
Product Principle
A powder coating gun charges powder particles via an electrostatic generator so they are attracted to the grounded workpiece in a high-voltage field. By controlling voltage/current, powder feed and air pressure, it achieves uniform film thickness and coverage. With a recovery system, it improves powder utilization and reduces overspray dust.
